The aim of this platform is to provide a high quality mass spectrometry service for the different research groups in CICBiomaGUNE and to the nearby interested scientific community. The specialized laboratory is equipped with modern instrumentation and offers different ionization techniques for the analysis of small molecules to complex biomolecules. The platform service is equipped with modern technology: Acquity UPLC coupled to a LCT XE time-of-flight mass spectrometry detector with electrospray ionization source (ESI) and a Voyager-DE PRO time-of-flight mass spectrometer with a Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption Ionization source (MALDI).
Specialized technical advice for the development and planning of analysis of compounds or their derivatives. Optimization of analyte determination by multiple characterization combining multiparametric information from available equipment. Determination of major components in liquid or solid matrices, with the possibility of making composition maps.
Liquid Chromatograph with Mass Spectrometer, UHPLC/ESI-Q-ToF-MS – Waters Acquity LCT Premier XE. It is equipped with an electrospray ionization module and LockSpray interface to to an orthogonal acceleration time-of-flight (oa-TOF) mass spectrometer.
High Pressure Liquid Chromatograph, HPLC – Agilent LC 1260 Infinity II. It is equipped with the latest generation of DAD HS diode matrix detectors, a quaternary pump with a degassing module and an automatic sampler with sample temperature control, programmable between 4 and 40º C.
High Performance Prepared Liquid Chromatograph, HPLC – Waters Delta 600. It is a highly robust and reproducible system, which allows to work with high separation efficiency in a wide range of linear speeds, flow rates and back pressures. The system is equipped with a binary solvent manager, an autosampler, and a photodiode matrix detector.
Inductively Coupled Plasma Mass Spectrometer, ICP-MS –Thermo Fisher iCap-Q. Is equipped with a He gas kinetic energy discrimination (KED) collision / reaction cell. It is a robust, analytical equipment, with high sensitivity and reproducibility that allows the quantification of most of the elements of the periodic table (metals and several non-metallic ones), with detection limits in the Ppb / Ppt range.
Microwave Digestion System, Berghof Speedwave Xpert. It allows the microwave-assisted treatment of samples at high pressure and temperature in high quality Teflon reactors, prior to ICP-MS analysis.
Matrix Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization coupled with a time-of-flight Mass Spectrometer, MALDI TOF – Bruker UltrafleXtreme III. Provides accurate mass measurements (1 ppm) with high sensitivity, high resolution, and high range (up to 40,000 Da). It allows the analysis of a wide type of samples such as: proteins, polymers, polysaccharides, lipids and other biomolecules, and applications such as: top-down and bottom-up sequencing for proteomics, MALDI tissue images, surface analysis, structural elucidation by MS/MS.
Electrospray Ionization Robot, Advion TriVersa NanoMate. It is an automated ion source platform that enables high-performance direct infusion or flow injection experiments for small or large analytes, in applications from lipidomics and non-covalent interaction studies (NCI) to protein characterization. It can operate as a nano-ESI ion source for LC/MS applications and be coupled to the available equipment in our platform.
