Description

To fabricate robust and efficient multifunctional heterogeneous biocatalysts we first find the right enzyme (enzyme data bases, i.e BRENDA, RETROBIOCAT, ATLAS, KEEG....), engineer them if needed, and combine them with materials as artificial scaffolds to develop biocatalysts with new functionalities like advanced biosensors, bio-inorganic energy generators, units for cell-free protein synthesis. Our final goal is creating new-to-nature artificial metabolic cells able to perform (chemo)biocatalytic cascades with precise control of the sub-micrometric localization of each biocatalyst.
