Polyelectrolyte synthesis and self-assembly in biomedical field
  • Layer by layer technique
  • Polyelectrolyte complexes for nucleic acid delivery
  • Polyelectrolyte small drug complexes

Description

This line of research is focused on the use of polyelectrolytes, polymers with repetitive charges, or their assemblies for drug delivery profiting from possibilities for complexation of charged molecules and therapeutics to the polyelectrolytes. Electrostatic complexation can be used for encapsulation of nucleic acid but also for small chemotherapeutics like doxorubicin. Polyelectrolytes or charged assemblies are synthetized and modified and formulated with drugs. Biological endpoints are tested in vitro and in vivo.
