CIC biomaGUNE reaffirms commitment to animal welfare with successful AAALAC accreditation renewal

CIC biomaGUNE has recently renewed its accreditation from AAALAC International, reaffirming its commitment to the highest standards of animal welfare and scientific excellence. AAALAC International, a private, non-profit organization, promotes the humane treatment of animals in science through voluntary accreditation and assessment programs. This renewed accreditation confirms that CIC biomaGUNE continues to meet rigorous international standards in animal care and use, emphasizing the Center's dedication to continuous improvement and ethical practices in biomedical research.
Being one of only eleven organizations in Spain with this prestigious accreditation, CIC biomaGUNE remains in an elite category that enhances its eligibility for international research projects, where such credentials are highly regarded. The accreditation process involved a comprehensive self-evaluation of the Center's Animal Care and Use Program, followed by an in-depth site visit from AAALAC representatives to scrutinize all aspects of the program. This includes the maintenance of facilities, occupational health and safety, training of personnel, and adherence to ethical and legal standards in the use of animals in experimental procedures.
First accredited in 2015, CIC biomaGUNE's successful re-accreditation underscores its ongoing leadership in promoting ethical research and maintaining exceptional animal welfare standards.
