This week, on September 5th and 6th, 2024, the IV Spanish Biocatalysis Workshop JEB2024 will take place at the Aquarium of Donostia/San Sebastián. This event, jointly organized by the Spanish Biocatalysis Society Sebiot and CIC biomaGUNE, will be led by Dr. Fernando López-Gallego, Ikerbasque Research Professor and Principal Investigator in the Heterogeneous Biocatalysis group at CIC biomaGUNE, and Dr. Alejandro Herrera Orrego, Postdoctoral researcher in the same group.
The workshop aims to strengthen the biocatalysis research community both nationally and internationally, providing an excellent opportunity to build a new network of young researchers in this field. Approximately 120 participants, including university students, faculty, and professionals in biocatalysis, will attend.
The workshop, which will be conducted entirely in English, will consist of 5 thematic sessions and 7 presentations. Each session will feature a keynote lecture followed by three oral communications on the same topic. The event will officially begin on September 5th at 10:00 with a plenary session led by Valeria Grazú from the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA).
Throughout the two days, key topics in biocatalysis will be addressed by recognized speakers such as Antonio García-Moyano from the Norwegian Research Centre, Katarzyna Świderek from Universitat Jaume I, and Silvia Osuna from the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis, University of Girona, who will close the event on September 6th at 16:00.
The program also includes two poster sessions, one each day, to give visibility to proposals that were not selected for oral communications.
