The IV Spanish Biocatalysis Workshop JEB2024 will be held at the Aquarium of Donostia/San Sebastian (Spain) from 5 to 6 September 2024. This event, which is held every 2 years, has been jointly organised by the Spanish Biocatalysis Society Sebiot and CIC biomaGUNE, the latter being the local organiser. The event will be led by Dr. Fernando López de Gállego, Ikerbasque professor and senior researcher in the Heterogeneous Biocatalysis group at CIC biomaGUNE and by Alejandro Herrera Orrego, Postdoc researcher in the same group.
The aim of the workshop is to strengthen the biocatalysis research community at both national and international level, providing an excellent opportunity to generate a new network of young researchers in this area. To this end, the workshop will bring together approximately 120 people including university students, faculty and professionals in the field of biocatalysis.
The workshop will be held in English only and will consist of 5 thematic sessions and 7 presentations. Each session will have a keynote lecture followed by three oral communications in the same topic.
The workshop will start on 5 September at 8:30 with the registration and will be inaugurated at 10:00 with a plenary session with Valeria Grazú, from the Institute of Nanoscience and Materials of Aragon (INMA).
The first day, Thursday 5, will host the sessions dedicated to New approaches to discover and isolate biocatalysts (11h), with Antonio García-Moyano, from the Norwegian Research Centre (Norway), as keynote speaker; Computational Biocatalysis (12: 30h), with Katarzyna Świderek, from the Universitat Jaume I (Castellón) as keynote speaker; and Enzyme immobilization and Process Intensification (16h), with Ana Isabel Benítez, from the ETH Zürich (Switzerland).
The second day, Friday 6, will be devoted to Biocatalysis in non-conventional solvents (9h), with Susana Nieto, from the University of Murcia, as keynote speaker, and New reactions and multi-enzyme systems, with Juan Mangas, from the University of Oviedo, as keynote speaker.
The programme also includes two poster sessions, one for each day, to give visibility to the proposals that have not been selected in the oral communications.
The workshop will close on 6 September at 16:00 with a lecture by Silvia Osuna, from the Institute of Computational Chemistry and Catalysis, University of Girona.
The deadline for Abstract registration is 30 April 2024.
