2024Pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) is a rare disease characterized by pulmonary artery (PA)remodeling and right ventricle (RV) failure. Despite significant advances in understanding PAH,the disease remains highly heterogeneous, with variability in clinical presentation andoutcomes. Key factors contributing to this heterogeneity include sex, aging, and environmentalfactors such as diet or exercise. Our research group aims to explore the interplay between sex, diet, and aging on the pathophysiology of PAH, providing insights into how these variablescontribute to disease heterogeneity. By analyzing parameters such as cardiac function, metabolism, vascular remodeling, right ventricular pressure, we aim to provide deeper insightsinto how these variables contribute to disease heterogeneity. Understanding theserelationships is crucial for developing personalized therapeutic strategies tailored to patient-specific factors, potentially improving outcomes for those affected by this challenging disease.
