He left CIC biomaGUNE on September 2013 for a position at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology.
Ilya Reviakine did his undergraduate studies in biochemistry at McMaster University (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada) and received his PhD in Mathematics and Natural Sciences from the University of Groningen (Groningen, the Netherlands), where he worked with Prof. Alain Brisson on atomic force microscopy of biological macromolecules and their assemblies. He did his postdoctoral work first in the area of biointerfaces at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (ETH) in Zürich, Switzerland, and then in the area of protein crystallization at the University of Houston (Houston, Texas, USA). In 2005 he received an Alexander von Humboldt Research fellowship to work on shearacoustic response from laterally inhomogeneous ultrathin films at the University of Clausthal (Clausthal-Zellerfeld, Germany). He joined the Institute as a group-leader in October of 2006 to work in the area of soft interfaces and transmembrane protein crystallization.
