Prof. Maurizio Prato, Principal Investigator of the Carbon Bionanotechnology group at CIC biomaGUNE, was appointed Honorary Member of the Gioenia Academy on January 23.
The Gioenia Academy, based in Catania, Italy, was established in 1824 by knight Cesare Borgia (1776-1837) alongside ten intellectuals and scientists from Catania. Its mission is to promote the study of natural phenomena and contribute to scientific progress. Named after the Catanese naturalist Giuseppe Gioeni d'Anjou (who passed away in 1822), the academy has been part of the "Reseau des Académies des Pays Mediterranéens" under UNESCO since 1997.
