On 23rd September, CIC biomaGUNE will host a delegation from the Shenzhen Institutes of Advanced Technology (SIAT), Chinese Academy of Sciences, for a collaborative seminar featuring cutting-edge research in biomaterials and nanotechnology. The SIAT delegation will include Prof. Guocheng Wang, expert in advanced titania interfaces for osseointegration and antibacterial materials, and Prof. Yang Lie, specialized in immunology and the development of nano vaccines against inflammatory and infectious diseases.
The day-long workshop will feature presentations from both SIAT and CIC biomaGUNE scientists. Topics include molecular targeting nanomaterials, presented by Prof. Yang Li and bone biomaterials and surface functionalization, by Prof. Guocheng Wang. CIC biomaGUNE’s own researchers will contribute with projects such as Micaela Macchione’s BRAINSTORM Project on wireless deep brain stimulation through engineered multifunctional nanomaterials and Santiago Marzini's work on hybrid biomaterials based on silk fibroin.
Other highlights include discussions on the interaction of nanoparticles with proteins, anticancer drug-encapsulated cyclodextrin nanosponges, metal-based nanomaterials, non-viral vectors for gene delivery, and near-infrared responsive antibacterial surfaces for biomedical implants. The event will conclude with a visit to CIC biomaGUNE's facilities.
