CIC biomaGUNE’s Luis Liz-Marzán, Ikerbasque Professor and senior researcher of the BioNanoPlasmonics group, has once again been included in the prestigious Highly Cited Researchers ranking, which shows that his scientific production has been having an exceptional impact in his field of research. The professor has appeared in this ranking in various categories without interruption since 2014. According to data published by the company, Liz-Marzán has 564 publications in highly prestigious international journals, for which he has received over 61,400 citations.
The Highly Cited Researchers ranking is published annually by the British company Clarivate Analytics, which specializes in analyzing and collecting data from scientific and academic research; the ranking recognizes the most influential researchers in the world according to the number of references to their work made by the scientific community; it recognizes researchers whose production of scientific papers is in the top 1% most cited by their colleagues in their field of expertise. In 2022, fewer than 7,000, or about 0.1%, of the world's researchers in 21 fields of research and across multiple fields, have earned this exclusive distinction.
This new recognition of Liz-Marzán's work comes in the wake of the forthcoming Honorary Doctorate that he will be receiving from the University of Antwerp, as well as many others received throughout his career, such as the recent González-Ciamician prize awarded by the Italian Chemical Society, his recent acceptance by the Royal Academy of Sciences as a full member, the Franco-Spanish Catalan-Sabatier 2020 Award, the Enrique Moles National Research Award 2018, the Dupont Award for Science, the Jaime I Award for Research, the Medal of the Royal Spanish Society of Chemistry or the Lilly Award for Biomedical Research.
