Luis M. Liz-Marzán has been elected as an International Member of the National Academy of Engineering

The American National Academy of Engineering® (NAE) has just published the list of the 18 academics it will be honoring as NAE International Members in 2023. Among them is Luis Liz-Marzán, Ikerbasque professor at CIC biomaGUNE and professor at the University of Vigo, in recognition of his contributions and the application of Colloid Chemistry in the fields of nanoplasmonics, nanoparticles and nanosensors. Liz-Marzán is the senior researcher in CIC biomaGUNE’s Bionanoplasmonics group and also senior researcher at the Bioengineering, Biomaterials and Nanomedicine Networking Biomedical Research Center (CIBER-BBN).

Admission to the NAE honors those who have made outstanding contributions to “engineering research, practice or teaching” and who have “pioneered new fields of technology and developed and made significant advances in traditional fields of engineering, as well as in the application of innovative approaches in engineering”.

The new members will be formally admitted at the ceremony to be held during the NAE annual meeting on October 1, 2023. The full list of the 2023 NAE members is available here.
