CIC biomaGUNE is launching various new projects and ideas designed to improve sustainability and solidarity with the environment. The sustainability committee will propose some campaigns to the CIC biomaGUNE community and will send information on how to implement the changes.
The first campaign, in collaboration with the SEUR Foundation, is the "Caps for a new life®" project, which involves recycling plastic caps to help children with serious health problems. Since its inception in 2011, "Caps for a new life" has given over 130 children access to invaluable medical and orthopedic treatments not covered by the public health system. In doing so, over 2 billion caps have been recycled resulting in a reduction in CO2 emissions of over 6,000 tonnes. The current campaign is in support of Leo, an 8-year-old boy from Benidorm with Hirschsprung’s Disease and Down’s syndrome. More info is available here.
CIC biomaGUNE is an institution which is capable of providing a large quantity of caps and can thus help reduce CO2 emissions whilst providing important medical help for children in need. So a main "Caps for a new life" box has been set up, as well as smaller boxes in each laboratory. The sustainability committee expects to achieve excellent results in this campaign.
