The Supramolecular Inorganic Biosystems Lab at CIC biomaGUNE carries out projects at the interface of supramolecular inorganic chemistry and biology, focused on:

  • Design of functional supramolecular systems interacting with biological targets.
  • Innovative self-assembled inorganic structures for biomedical applications.
  • Design of stimuli-responsive and functional metalloassemblies based on biomolecules.
  • Self-assembly in biological environments and biomimetic self-assembly.

The applicant, according to his previous background and interests, could choose any of the above-mentioned research lines.

Required Education Level:

A BSc and MSc in a relevant area of Chemistry, Materials Science, Biochemistry, or related fields. Experience in synthetic organic/inorganic chemistry, supramolecular systems, bioinorganic chemistry, and/or medicinal chemistry will be positively evaluated.

Meet the academic requirements necessary to be enrolled in a doctoral programme at the time of joining the Centre.

Required Skills/Qualifications:
  • Be eligible to enrol in a doctoral programme when the contract begins.
  • Not hold a doctoral degree at the time of application.
  • Not have previously received a predoctoral grant for their doctoral training.
  • Not have previously held a predoctoral contract for more than 12 months.
  • Have a strong academic record.
  • Have a minimum academic grade of 7.90/10, in accordance with the eligibility requirements of the Spanish FPU programme.
  • Appear in only one FPU application; applicants included in more than one application will be excluded from all applications.

The maximum duration of the action is 4 years from your joining the institution. Within those 4 years, a postdoctoral orientation period (POP) of up to 12 months is included, which begins when you defend your thesis, provided the defence takes place during the execution period.
