Applications are invited for a multidisciplinary post-doctoral position in the Carbon Nanobiotechnology lab at CIC biomaGUNE to develop 3D scaffolds and hydrogels based on Carbon Nanotubes (CNTs) for neuronal signalling, reconnection and regeneration.

The applicant will be involved in the chemical synthesis, characterization, and manufacturing of the CNT-based substrates, the biological validation and evaluation in vitro and in vivo. The research project will be aimed at deepening the comprehension of the neurological and neurodegenerative diseases and seek for innovative technologies to speed up the drug discovery and therapeutic process.
Therefore, the candidate will interact with experts in different disciplines, spanning from synthetic chemistry to cell biology, from photochemistry to medical imaging, and with the opportunity to employ a wide range of characterization and purification methods (i.e. optical spectroscopy, AFM, TEM, XPS, SEM, HPLC, gel electrophoresis, etc) and biology procedures (i.e. cell biology studies, confocal microscopy, medical imaging by MRI and/or PET/SPECT).

Required Education Level:

- Bachelor and MS in Chemistry, Polymer Science, or any relevant related area, is required.
- PhD in Polymer Science, Nanotechnology, Organic Chemistry or related disciplines

Required Skills/Qualifications:

- Research experience
- Good theoretical background and previous experience polymer science and 
purification/characterization methods is required.
- Experience in nanotechnology, synthetic chemistry and Carbon nanomaterials is preferred.
- Experience in cell culture of neurons
- Animal experimentation (accreditation and experience) is mandatory
- Proficiency in English, spoken and written.

Duration:

Temporary Full Time Contract in the framework of the referred research projects development
