Expression atlas of Dmrt genes across sex and development; unveiling sex-biases vulnerabilities

12.00pm, Seminar Room

Esther Serrano-Saíz

(CBM-SO, Spain)

This seminar will explore how evolutionarily ancient genetic mechanisms act to actively suppress sex differences in the brain, keeping male and female neural circuits remarkably similar despite hormonal and chromosomal differences. Drawing on recent work on DMRT transcription factors and related pathways, I will illustrate how these mechanisms buffer sex?biased programs and discuss their implications for understanding sex differences in brain function and vulnerability to disease.
